Solar Radio observation at the observatory site of Glasgow University, UK
Installation of an LPDA (Create Japan) in the garden of the observatory. Although the spectrum is quite crowded, there are some gaps which allow solar radio burst observations. Now we are waiting for the 1st light. Green bars mark frequency ranges which are protected for Radio Astronomy in the UK.

ISWI and MAGDAS School in Cianjur
Spectral overview taken with Callisto during ISWI MAGDAS workshop in Cianjur, Indonesia. Green markers show frequency ranges which are protected for Radio Astronomy but shared with other services. The whole range might be used for solar observations except the FM range with strong local transmitters. Even in the TV range above 500 MHz there are still quite a lot of channels available for scientific observations.
0 dB interference corresponds to a noise temperature of 10 dB which is about 3'000 Kelvin
Integration time = 1 msec
Radiometric bandwidth = 300 KHz
Antenna was omni directional with 0 dB of gain at 50 ohm impedance
Plot comprizes 13'200 frequency channels between 45.0 MHz and 870 MHz

1st light Callisto University of Nairobi Kenya
1st light of a Callisto system at University of Nairobi UoN in Kenya. It depicts some type III bursts. The antenna was built in their local workshop and it is based on the Indian/Mauritius design. The system was set up in Nov. 2011, see pictures below in this blog. The sensitivity is not as good as expected due to different reasons like high level of rfi and inperfect antenna construction. Nevertheless the instrument is operational, congratulations to the UoN-team.

Radio Frequency monitoring in Stará Turá, Slovakia
Spectral overview in hotel LIPA in Stará Turá, Slovakia during 21st national Solar Physics Meeting. The antenna is a biconical from AARONIA, Callisto is without preamplifier. This location is much better in terms of rfi than SCO in Hurbanovo.
